CONFERENCE
The Impact of Early Life Trauma and Neglect on Adopted Children
With DAN HUGHES PhD, Clinical Child Psychologist, U.S.A.
Opened by JENNIE BASHFORTH, Director of Social Services and JULIEN KRAMER, Director of Education.
WASGAP and Social Services jointly hosted a training day for Worcestershire professionals
on Wednesday 21 May 2003. Guest speakers included Dan Hughes, Judith Trowell, Director of Child, Family & Adolescent Mental Health
Centre (CAMHS), Anne Binney, Head of Children's Services and members of WASGAP.
The purpose of the day was to inform all those who work with
adopted children and to facilitate a "multi-agency" approach to working with them and their
families. The day was funded by Social Services and the idea and much of the preparatory work
was undertaken by the WASGAP committee.
Conference Video.......
In conjunction with the Media Department of University College Worcester, we are producing a
video of this Conference for training purposes, with particular emphasis on Dan's morning delivery.
With his wealth of knowledge and expertise on attachment and related adoption issues, this promises
to be a valuable resource for further training. Equally, it could be helpful in raising
awareness amongst colleagues and friends of the many issues adoptive families encounter.
The cost, to include postage and packaging, is £15. To order a copy please send a cheque
made payable to "WASGAP" together with your name, address and telephone number
