• We have been in existence since 1986. The group was originally formed by Social Services to enable families to support each other during the long wait for placement during the 80s.

  • Our early meetings took the form of a Mother & Toddler group. We arranged social events and Christmas parties where our children were able to mix freely with other adopted children.

  • As our children grew, we became concerned and alarmed at the number of families experiencing complex behavioural problems they felt ill equipped to deal with.

  • Consequently, we made the decision to become an Action and Support group and began to campaign for Post Adoption Support for families.

  • In 2004 WASGAP achieved Charity status to continue their work supporting adoptive families

  • In 2006 WASGAP secured funding from the Big Lottery Fund
